Branson Leap Day Tornado

Thursday, March 1st, 2012

Was Sunset Affected by the Tornado?

Our offices were not physically impacted by the tornado that spun through the area on Feb 29, 2012. Operationally, we were closed all day Wednesday due to a power outage caused by the storm. We resumed normal business hours the following day (Thursday, Mar 1, 2012).

Were Your Nightly Rentals Affected by the Tornado?

Of the 55+ nightly rentals we professionally manage, only 3 have been affected by the storms. “Anchors Away” at Anchors Point in Kimberling City is temporarily closed while damages are being assessed. 2 condos on the Branson Landing are currently being assessed. We will update this post with additional information as it becomes available.

How much damage was caused to the Branson Area?

Fortunately, the damage caused to the area is isolated to certain areas of Branson. The tornado literally “skipped” down 76 Boulevard missing most of the area attractions, hotels, and shows. Most of the damage is confined to 2 different areas of Branson; Historic Downtown / Branson Landing Area and a section of Hwy 76 West of Gretna Rd.

According to The Branson/Lakes Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, “There are currently very few road closures in the Branson area due to storm damage. Portions of Country Music Highway 76 are currently restricted due to recovery efforts. Currently five or six of the more than 50 theatres in Branson have sustained significant damage as a result of the storms. City of Branson inspection crews are currently assessing the situation.”

The Branson/Lakes Area Convention and Visitors Bureau went on to say, “Approximately 12-15 of the more than 200 hotels in Branson have sustained significant damage as a result of the storms. City of Branson inspection crews are currently assessing the situation. Approximately five to six of the more than 100 attractions in Branson have sustained significant damage as a result of the storms. City of Branson inspection crews are currently assessing the situation.”

Many of the major attractions including Silver Dollar City, White Water, and Outlet Malls have NOT been affected by the storm.

Contrary to some reports seen in national media, Branson is still here. We assure you. For those affected by this unfortunate event, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Branson Vacation Homes and Condos

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Did you know that over 8 million people visit the Branson area annually? In today’s economy, this is quite an accomplishment. One reason so many people still head to Branson is our prime location. Nestled in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, Branson is just one day’s drive from 25% of the United State’s population. The newly opened Branson Regional Airport, the first privately owned and operated commercial airport in the U.S., makes it even easier for tourists to reach our family-friendly vacation destination.

While an easy to reach location is great, that isn’t all that draws visitors to Branson and the surrounding area. We’ve got three spectacular lakes, each unique from the others. First and probably best known in the area is Table Rock Lake. With over 700 miles of shoreline and over 43,000 surface acres, this pristine lake is a paradise for boaters, water skiers, scuba divers and swimmers. For the fishermen in the bunch, Lake Taneycomo’s cold, clear waters offer some of the best trout fishing in the world and flows through Historic Downtown Branson. Bull Shoals Lake is renowned for its largemouth bass and offers visitors who are looking for a little less traffic an opportunity to boat, swim and ski.

Of course, Branson is has been in the live music entertainment business for 50 years and boasts over 50 theaters and nearly 100 shows. Don’t think that we just have country music either – there’s something for every taste, ranging from The Liverpool Legends (hand-picked by Louise Harrison, George Harrison’s sister) performing as The Beatles to The Chinese Acrobats to The Legends in Concert featuring some of the world’s greatest impersonators portraying such artists as The Blues Brothers, Neil Diamond, Buddy Holly, Elvis and many others. For country music fans, Branson still has plenty of shows to choose from including Jim Stafford and The Oak Ridge Boys.

In addition to all the shows and the natural Ozark beauty, there’s a host of other things to do in Branson including Silver Dollar City, an 1880’s themed amusement park, White Water, Branson’s outdoor water park, the Titanic Museum, Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum and The Butterfly Palace. Located downtown on Lake Taneycomo, The Branson Landing, our newest $300 million addition, offers over 100 shopping choices, 10 restaurants and live entertainment. With so much to do, it’s easy to see why over 8 million visitors flock to Branson yearly.

All of these tourists need a place to stay and many of these visitors want more than a motel room for their vacation. They want the conveniences of home. To achieve this comfort, an increasing number of visitors are renting vacation homes and condos. The advantages are numerous. They can stay under the same roof where everyone has their own room where they can hang out, read or watch TV without being on top of each other. Fully-stocked kitchens eliminate the expense of eating every meal in a restaurant. Leftovers can be brought back to the home further reducing food costs. Pet friendly vacation condos and homes allow those that want to travel with their four-legged companions a place to stay. Additionally, many properties offer great amenities for guests to use such as swimming pools, hot tubs, tennis and golf. These are just a few reasons why many tourists coming to the Branson area opt to stay in a vacation rental home or condo over a hotel.

Now more than ever, Branson is a great place to vacation AND invest.
