It’s All About the Lakes in Branson, Missouri

Branson has glitz, glamour, and star power, but it’s our natural beauty that keeps people moving here every year, and that includes the three major Branson lakes—Table Rock, Lake Taneycomo, and Bull Shoals—our town is built around. Tranquil, yet powerful, they draw visitors from all over the world, especially fishermen and women. The fish are always biting in Branson, with rainbow and brown trout being the most plentiful. On any given day of the week, however, its most likely you will find the locals sitting shore side with a pole in the water, riding the waves on jet skis, or simply sitting on a park bench drinking in the view. We never cease to be amazed by Mother Nature’s bounty, no matter how long we live here.

Lake Taneycomo

Formed by the construction of Powersite Dam that spans the White River, Branson's Lake Taneycomo is famous for its trout fishing; the Shepherd of the Hills Trout Hatchery ensures that rainbow trout will always be on your menu after a long day of fishing. Branson Landing, a major shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, is built on the shores of the lake, and the Branson Landing Fountains present a water extravaganza that combines, fire, light, cannons, and music to make a show you will want to watch over and over again.

Table Rock Lake

This tranquil body of water was created by the construction of Table Rock Dam in 1958, and has been a source of exercise and entertainment almost since the very beginning! Summer activities on Branson lakes include swimming, boating, and of course, fishing! Family parties are that much more fun when spent at the lake; nearby picnic tables allow for eating cake in between water activities. And remember, the old wife’s tale about having to wait an hour after eating has been proven to be a myth!

Bull Shoals Lake

Table Rock Dam is the reason for this lakes existence as well, and the cold waters have been a haven for trout fishermen for decades. Scuba diving, water skiing, boating, and swimming are all outdoor activities that have drawn tourists and future residents to our fair city since its start. Branson is an outdoor lover’s paradise, and Bull Shoals Lake is one of the reasons why!
